Ms.Mary Kathryn Istre
Mary Kathryn Istre (pronounced like “East”) comes to Zhuhai from the state of Missouri in the U.S. She has years of experience teaching preschool, beginning in her college days as she pursued her degree in Early Childhood Education. Immediately after graduating, she and her husband David moved to Zhuhai in 2010 to teach English, and moved to Hefei in the Anhui province a year later. In 2013 they returned to America and shortly after, their daughter Naomi was born. Ms. Istre continued working with preschool students while in America, first at a center for students with disabilities, and then in the Kansas City schools. She is now excited to return to Zhuhai, a place she considers a second home.
Nursery Chinese Teacher
Ms. Crystal was born and raised in Guangzhou, Guangdong. She is a native speaker of Mandarin and Cantonese. She earned her Bachelor Degree in Applied Psychology from Beijing Normal University, Zhuhai.
Before being a formal staff of Zhuhai International School, Ms. Crystal has been an intern teacher at Early Year, Year One and Learning Services for a full academic year.
She worked with Pediatricians, Psychiatrist, Pediatric Occupational Therapists, Speech-Language Therapists and other child development specialists for a long time, receiving professional training from them. Additionally, Ms. Crystal has been efficiently cooperating with them to provide learning support for students.
Ms. Crystal loves the philosophy and teaching methods of PYP and knows development characteristics of EY and PYP students well.
She is excited to be a member of the ZIS team and looks forward to sharing her knowledge and growing with ZIS teachers and students together.
Ms. Lorelei Brose
Lorelei Brose has been active in the field of teaching and education development in both grade schools and at college levels for most of her life. Her parents, both career educators who immigrated to the United States of America from Germany and the Philippines, provide her with a diverse education and knowledge of cultures and language. Family vacations were spent traveling throughout North America, Central and South America, Europe, Asia, Australia and other destinations around the world.
Originally from Los Angeles, USA, for the past four years Lorelei has lived and taught at various locations in China including Shanghai, Xiamen and now Zhuhai. She is focusing primarily on early childhood development and second language learners studying English. For both native and non-native English teachers, she has conducted training programs and created creative teaching materials and curricula. Lorelei is currently pursuing a post graduate teaching degree and enjoys the gift of learning more each day from her lively classroom interactions with both staff and students.
Ms. Rachel Xie
Reception Chinese Teacher
Rachel Xie was born in Guangdong Province. She graduated from the Ling nan Normal University where she obtained the IPA certificate qualification in Chinese as a foreign language .In 2010,she spent six months in the United States and since then has been working with English speakers on a daily basis. She has more than 3 years experience in teaching Chinese to foreigners. She is a hardworking, responsible and a motivated worker. She is both diligent in her work and gregarious with her peers and friends. She likes many sports, Chinese dancing, Singing and Reading. She not only teaches Chinese knowledge, but also its culture and customs.She like to work in ZIS,so she is very happy to be a member of ZIS.
Mr. David Lambert
Year 1 Classroom Teacher
David Lambert was born and raised in the Flemish part of Belgium. He graduated in 2005 with a Bachelor’s degree in Primary Education. Right after his graduation, he moved to China and has lived here ever since. For the past ten years he worked at QSI Chengdu and Zhuhai. He has shown his versatility through teaching a wide range of subjects at all age levels; kindergarten homeroom teacher, PE, yearbook, IT, photography, cultural studies and intensive English. He also worked as the activities coordinator and was an active member in the Chengdu International School Association. Mr. David is married to our music teacher Ms. Leanne and they have a lovely daughter in year 3. He is excited to join his family at ZIS, and working together with the many wonderful people he has met in the past year. Currently he is working on his Master in Educational Leadership at the Hong Kong Institute of Education.
Ms. Zanda Balode
Year 1 Classroom Teacher
Zanda was born and grew up in Latvia. After graduating High School she moved to Scotland, UK to study Media, Culture and Society. While at Scotland Zanda was lucky to work with bilingual students in several schools and Bilingual Speech and Language Therapy Clinic. For the last three years Zanda has been part of International School of Latvia faculty. She strongly supports inclusive education, since it is beneficial for every student. This year Zanda achieved Postgraduate Certificate in Inclusive Education, and is looking forward to continue her studies in August. In her free time Zanda enjoys taking photos, reading books, writing, yoga, traveling, hiking and painting. Zanda is a passionate educator and she is very excited to join Zhuhai International School community.

Jessie Dai,from Dongguan,Guangdong Province.She graduated from Beijing Normal University in Zhuhai with a Bachelors degree,majoring in preschool education.Before coming to Zhuhai international School,Jessie was a play instructor for 0~5 years old children,guiding children to explore and develop with patience.Jessie has a passion for teaching and is very excited to join the team here at ZIS.
Ms. Tania Xiao
Year 1 Chinese Teacher
Tania was born in Zhongshan, Guangdong, China. She graduated from Guangdong University of Foreign Studies in English Education. Before coming to Zhuhai International School,Tania is an early childhood educator. Tania thinks that the early childhood education is to guide children to explore, respect the choice of the child, to protect their curiosity, develop their creativity. Tania is pleased to join the ZIS, joining the experienced teachers together to create a better learning environment for children.
Ms. Magdalena Wojtukiewicz
Year 2 Classroom Teacher
Magdalena Wojtukiewicz was born in Gdansk, Poland, but raised in Edmonton, Canada. She is married to Jordan Rose and together they have a beautiful daughter. Magda began her career in education as an ESL teacher in South Korea and Taiwan. She then travelled to Edith Cowan University in Perth, Australia, where she earned her Graduate Diploma of Education. Since then, Magda and Jordan have spent the past five years teaching Primary students at international schools in Honduras and United Arab Emirates respectively. As an experienced international educator, Magda strives to create a learning environment that is relevant to her students, intrinsically motivating, diverse, and of course, fun! Magda has a passion for teaching and is very excited to be joining the ZIS family. Magda, Jordan and their daughter are looking very forward to their new adventure in Southern China.
Ms. Eva Xu
Year 2 Chinese Teacher
Ms. Eva comes from Qinghai in northwest China. She graduated from Beijing Normal University in Zhuhai with a BBA Degree in Editing and a Dual Bachelor Degree in Applied Psychology and Science. Her childhood dream was to become a teacher. After graduation, she obtained the Chinese Teacher Qualification Certificate and a Certificate for teaching Chinese Language to international students. She has been teaching Chinese for five years, and is very lucky to join ZIS. She enjoys learning, sharing and growing with the children in her class.
Mr. John Nairn
Year 3 Classroom Teacher and Boy’s Boarding Parent
John arrives at our school having spent nearly two decades in the Educational field. He hails from the central belt of Scotland and has worked his way through Europe and Asia which has allowed him to amass a wealth of experience in the area of Early Childhood Education. His home is now the Philippines where he spends any free time that he has with his wife Merle and their two teenage children Angela and Robert. John’s knowledge and practical Early Childhood experiences have attracted the attention of educational bloggers around the globe. He is an active contributor within the IBPYP community and has contributed towards Reviews, Discussion Groups and Research Projects with a focus on the Early Years. Those who have encountered or worked with John are struck by has passion for our youngest learners and his belief that with appropriate guidance they can attain the ability to learn by themselves through collaborative sharing of thoughts and experiences.
Ms. Olivia Wang
Year 3 Chinese Teacher
Olivia Wang was born and raised in Sichuan province.She completed her undergraduate programme in Beijing Normal University in Zhuhai in Education management.As a Chinese teacher,Olivia has got a high level certificate in Mandarin.She always wanted to be a teacher since she was in secondary.And after being an intern in ZIS,Olivia began to love this school and fortunately to stay to be a Chinese teacher.Outside of the classroom,Olivia has many hobbies such as music,movie appreciation,reading and language learning.She is also good at painting and history.Ms. Olivia has always got along with her children and wanted to grow up together with her students.
Mr. Jason Groleau
Year 4 Classroom Teacher
Jay is from Canada’s capital city, Ottawa, where he also graduated with his degrees in Pyschology and Education. With 15 years of teaching experience from kindergarten to grade 5, he is passionate about guiding young learners in their character development and helping them on their countless quests for understanding. Having lived and taught in three different cities in Taiwan, Mr. G’s move to Zhuhai will now make this his third city to call home in China. He previously lived in Chengdu and then in Shenzhen with his wife, Yang, and one year-old daughter, Ashley. Most of his free time is spent with his family, but Jay also loves riding his bike, film, reading, music, writing for children and has even written a few storybooks that have been published. He and his family are looking forward to making Zhuhai and ZIS their new home.
Ms. Hanny Luo
Year 4 Chinese Teacher
Hanny LUO was born and raised in Hu Nan province. She completed her undergraduate programme in Hu Nan in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language. After graduation, she joined a foreigner school in Guang Zhou to teach foreign primary students Chinese for three years .As a Chinese teacher, Hanny has got a high level certificate in Mandarin and the certificate of teaching Chinese. As a primary chinese teacher, Hanny has rich experience in teaching Chinese and got along well with the children in her class. Outside of the classroom, she enjoys reading, learning different languages and skill, traveling to different places. Ms. Hanny is excited to be here and happy to be a member of the ZIS community.
Ms. Louise Moore
Year 5 Classroom Teacher
Louise was born and raised in Kilkenny, the home of hurling, Ireland. She graduated in 2010 with a Bachelor’s degree in English and Chinese. Her love of teaching grew when she was 16, after becoming a volunteer teacher at The Human Development Foundation in Bangkok, where she returns occasionally to lend a hand. In 2012, Louise and her partner moved to China and taught in Kindergartens in Yunnan, Guangxi and Guangdong Provinces. She completed her Professional Graduate Certificate in Education through Sunderland University in the UK, and is very excited about being a member of staff here at ZIS. She strives to make learning creative and fun for her students, within a stimulating and motivating environment. She is passionate about making learning accessible to all and creating an inclusive classroom that nurtures her students individual needs. Apart from teaching, Louise’s other passions include; bike riding, writing poetry and short stories and travelling to experience new cultures, food and languages. She enjoys most sports and hopes to bring some of her skills of Irish sports to the field here at ZIS.
Ms. Esther Lin
Year 5 Chinese Teacher & Chinese PYP Coordinator
Ms Lin was born in Guang Dong province. She finished her bachelor degree with a major in Chinese Language and Literature in Jia Ying University of Guang Dong, China. After she graduated from university, she taught Mandarin in Hua Qiao Middle School, Guang Dong, China. Following this she went to Indonesia and taught in Cita Hati International Baccalaureate School, Surabaya for two years. Ms Lin always tries her best to help students gain the highest level in Mandarin and also cares about the students’ personality and characters. The greatest joy she gets from teaching is sharing happiness and friendship with her students, while they grow together through the teaching and learning.
Mr. Jordan Rose
Year 6 Classroom Teacher & Deputy PYP Coordinator
Jordan Rose comes to ZIS from Canada. He is married to Year One teacher, Magda Wojtukiewicz. Together they have a young daughter named Della. Jordan has been teaching internationally for over 13 years. He began his career teaching English as a second language to young students in Korea and Taiwan, before moving to Perth, Australia to further his education. During his time in Perth he earned a Graduate Diploma of Education from Edith Cowan University. Since graduating he has gone on to teach Year 4 and Year 5 homeroom classes at well renowned international schools in the United Arab Emirates and Honduras respectively. He is now excited about moving back to Asia, and becoming part of the ZIS family. Jordan is a strong believer in the value of inquiry based learning, and looks forward to being a part of the Primary Years Program at ZIS. Jordan is also a sports lover, and has enjoyed his time coaching boys and girl’s basketball teams at his previous schools. He loves to travel and experience new cultures, and can’t wait to get to know all the exciting things that Zhuhai and the surrounding area has to offer.
Ms. Nicole Nie
Year 6 Chinese Teacher
NieXin, from Chengdu, Sichuan province, graduated from southwest university for nationalities Chinese language and literature major, bachelor’s degree in Chinese language and literature. As a language teacher qualification after graduation and mandarin level 2 grade a certificate, engaged in Chinese education for two years, very lucky to join the ZIS.
