Hilton Munro

Mr. Hilton Munro

Head of School

Mr Munro is an Australian citizen and is an experienced teacher and administrator having taught in Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Oman and most recently Portugal. He has over 5 years of leadership experience in various positions such as Head of Year level, Head of Department, Team Leader and Coordinator roles.

He has worked with a number of curricula and assessment frameworks. He is an experienced curriculum writer and is familiar with the American, British, Canadian, Australian and Hong Kong curricula.

Mr Munro is an International Baccalaureate PYP Workshop leader and trainer. He qualified with the IBO as a trainer in 2007 and has run PYP workshops in a number of countries. He has experience with a variety of assessment and reporting methods including formal reports, student led conferences, 3 way conferences, formative and summative assessment and the PYP exhibition.

He is also an active and sports minded person having played field hockey to an international level.

Mark Williams

Mr. Mark Williams

Secondary Principal & MYP Coordinator

Mr Mark Williams is our current Secondary Principal and also the MYP Coordinator. He has 28 years teaching experience and this is his 10th in China having taught as an Upper Primary generalist and a Middle School specialist in Shanghai for over 7 years. He has taught Humanities, Science, Math, English and PE in the middle school and is very active in outdoor education leading events such as the recent Year 8/9 trip to Shanghai and Hangzhou and also the first camping experience by ZIS students. Born in Fiji, Mark grew up and attended university in New Zealand and he has also taught in Indonesia, Australia and England. His interests include a range of sports including golf, tennis, rugby, cricket and athletics. Mark was selected to represent New Zealand in an international road relay and  was an accomplished marathon runner. He is widely traveled and intends to take every opportunity to further explore Asia. Mark and his family are very much a part of the Zhuhai International School community.

Cameron Woods

Mr. Cameron Woods

DP Coordinator & MYP Maths

Prior to teaching, Cam first worked in the field of Engineering, and then worked and lectured in the field of Chinese Medicine. He has a BA Applied Science from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, a Dip.Ed. from Latrobe University, both in Australia, and is currently completing a Masters of Education. Cam has been a leader in both the IBO’s Middle Years Programme and Diploma Programmes and is looking forward to being involved in the education and future of ZIS students and the ZIS community. Cam and his wife, Sam, have 2 young children, and his interests are music and sport of all kinds, travel and learning languages.

Dr. Cheng Yan Davis
Dr. Cheng Yan Davis was the first visiting scholar from China to the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education (GSE). Currently she is Vice Dean of the Graduate School and Director of International Programs. She is responsible for such initiatives as the Six Nations Educational Research Project.
Dr. John Yip
Dr. John Yip, former Director General of Education in Singapore, also served as the CEO/Executive Director of the Singapore Institute of Management and Conceptualized and established the Singapore International School in Hong Kong, on whose foundation board he still serves. Among many honors, he was awarded Singapore’s Gold Medal for Public Administration and France’s Officier dans l’Ordre des Palmes Academique.
Mr. Jeffrey David Fischmann
Mr. Jeffrey David Fischmann completed his MA at the University of California. He has had extensive experience in teaching and in administration in international schools. He is a member of the East Asia Regional Council of Overseas Schools (EARCOS) and numerous other international associations. He speaks Chinese fluently and has 25 years experience working in international schools in China and Taiwan.
Dr. John DeFlaminis
Dr. John DeFlaminis is Executive Director of the Penn Center for Educational Leadership. As Superintendent of the Radnor Township School System, one of the best performing systems in the United States, Dr. DeFlaminis developed standards-based systems with international benchmarks.
Dr. Alfonso Orsini
Dr. Alfonso Orsini was appointed Upper School Principal/ IB Coordinator at Newark Academy in Livingston, New Jersey, one of the oldest schools in the United States, after having 11 years of teaching experience. He subsequently served as Headmaster at Leysin American School in Switzerland and Director of Emirates National School in Abu Dhabi. He completed his BA in English at Hamilton College, his MA in English at Long Island University, and his doctorate in Educational Administration at Teachers College, Columbia University.
Dr. Michael K. Yen
Dr. Michael K. Yen has a Ph.D. in Analytical Psychology, a Masters degree in International Relations, and is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Holistic Healing while also conducting post doctoral studies in Jungian Psychology. Mr. Yen was formerly Chief of Immigrant Visa Operations for China at the US Consulate General in Guangzhou, Contracting and Procurement Officer for the US Embassy in Beijing, Economics Reporting Officer at the US Embassy in Tokyo, Fraud Prevention Manager at the US Consulate General in Hong Kong and Student Affairs Officer at the American Institute in Taipei.

Zhuhai International School is a candidate school for the IB Primary Years Programme.
ZIS is pursuing authorization as an IB World School.
